Things To Do : Walking Trails

Get active and healthy while on holidays and create a walking programme to compliment your well deserved holiday break. For a cardiovascular workout, take a brisk walk along Noosa’s river frontage and at the same time enjoy a gym workout under the big blue sky at one of the outdoor training stations. "Fitness on the Foreshore" is a local council initiative to provide fitness stations along the Noosa River foreshore. Excercise equipment includes a cross trainer, rowing machine and stepper, all placed within a 720-metre circuit track. The benefits are plenty and you can use the equipment in your own time, at your own pace.

You don't need to limit yourself to the foreshore area - from Noosaville to Noosa Heads and to the start of the Noosa National Park is only a two hour round trip, unless heading into the Noosa National Park itself. The Noosa National Park walking trails meander along one of the many scenic and picturesque pathways along coastal and inland tracks and you could spend an entire day here alone. Noosaville is a flat area and allows for easy walking to and from Noosa Heads. The information centre in Noosa Heads can supply you with National Park walking maps.

Another comfortable and easy walk from Noosaville along the river pathways and walkways will take you to Tewantin to enjoy the Heritage Walk which encompasses 20 historical landmarks such as the still-standing Royal Mail Hotel and Tewantin’s first police station. It takes a minimum of two hours to complete as a round trip. The information centre in Tewantin can provide you with these walking maps.

For the more adventurous and for a more active workout - you can also walk any of the Noosa Hinterland cycling trails.
