4WD Beach Tours operate daily from Noosaville and travel north to visit the beautiful sandy straits of Fraser Island. 4WD Day tours are also available taking you directly to beautiful Rainbow Beach for the day. Along the way you will journey from Noosa by ferry to travel up the coast alongside the area known as The Coloured Sands - there are 72 shades of colour in the sands — off-whites, yellows, pinks, oranges, reds, maroons and browns — all in the red spectrum and this is because of the iron oxide content. The sands have been blown over thousands of years to the north to make the huge coloured cliffs and spectacular sand dunes.
